Welcome to the Professional Centre at St Paul's Catholic College. We passionately believe in the importance of developing staff at all levels in school and also working collaboratively. This has been lived out in the last few years as a Leading Edge school and working on the Gaining Ground programme. At the heart of this is the belief that it is mutually beneficial to be “outward facing” and work with others. This means we are very open and keen to share some of the strategies we have introduced which have led to high levels of attainment, achievement and value added.

We recognise that the most important factors in the classroom are the teacher, students and culture of a school and this is what all schools work so hard to develop. We are proud that we have been recognised by Ofsted as Outstanding in 2007, 2008 and 2011 and in the last full report they commented that, "When you enter the school you are struck by something indefinable. It is a unique, caring place where children flourish". It went on to say that, "all groups of students make excellent progress. This is a direct result of the outstanding teaching and learning". We are very satisfied and pleased with this achievement but realise that we cannot be complacent and need to continually improve and evaluate current practice and work with schools that challenge us to think.

We warmly invite you to get involved with any of the work we are doing - the Professional Centre is at the heart of the school so I am sure you will get a clear image of the college in action - we often involve students in hosting our courses and events. We work closely with the Schools Network (SSAT), Youth Sports Trust (YST), local authority and diocese to be part of vibrant networks of schools working alongside each other to improve the opportunities and lives of all young people.
